Reintroductions Study Tour 2011

Following very positive feedback from our previous study tours to Slovakia in June 2010 and May 2009 to learn lessons for potential reintroductions of carnivorous mammals to the United Kingdom, we are arranging another tour for 2011. Participants will have the chance to see bear, lynx and wolf habitats in the Tatra Mountains, learn about conflicts between large carnivores and local communities, discuss the issues with local people and witness some of the solutions being implemented by the Slovak Wildlife Society.

Although there will be plenty of discussion about wolves and bears, there will be a particular focus on the ecology and behaviour of the lynx, which has emerged in recent years as the most feasible of the UK's missing carnivores to reintroduce. The tour will also be a fantastic opportunity to explore the beautiful Tatra Mountains of Slovakia, in the company of expert guides.

Dates and prices are yet to be confirmed, so watch this space as places will be limited! To register provisional interest, please contact our partners, the Wolves and Humans Foundation, by email or telephone 01460 242593.
